The anticipation of growing up and making our own decisions is, for most, an exciting rite of passage into young adulthood.
However, there is a population of young people who, at 18 years old, must learn to solely take care of themselves and find affordable, safe, and stable housing.
Attaining a milestone such as this is often challenging when there are limited or no family members or trusted adults to provide emotional or financial resources to help them prepare for a life change such as living on their own.
Please consider a donation to the My First Apartment/Dorm Room Project that supports newly independent young adults and youth aging out of the foster care system and transitioning to self-sufficient living.
Your generosity will help area youth who are navigating adulthood for the first time obtain items they need to furnish their first apartment or dorm room with independent living items.
This type of support will lessen the financial burden on the youth and eliminate some of the fear, anxiety, and concern they may experience as they establish their new homes.
We want them to have a successful move and feel confident, prepared, and proud to begin their adult lives.
